Laying the Foundation for Day One: Shawmut New Hire Kit

About The Project:

Shawmut is an award-winning, national construction management firm with strong roots in every market they serve. They bring together national expertise and local insight to deliver thoughtful, high-quality projects that reflect the needs of each community. That balance is a big part of what sets them apart.

As an employee-owned company, Shawmut puts real emphasis on people. They’ve built a culture where employees feel supported, included, and genuinely connected to the work they do. So when it came time to create a New Hire Kit, it wasn’t just about sending swag—it was about shaping a first-day experience that reflects who they are. The goal was to create something meaningful and lasting, without the need to constantly reinvent it, so their team could stay focused on what they do best.

Our Approach:

We designed the kit to work for everyone—whether someone is on-site, in the office, or moving between both. It needed to be practical, relevant, and easy to use day-to-day, while also introducing Shawmut’s values in a way that felt real, not forced.

From a design standpoint, we kept things clean, confident, and straightforward. The kit reflects the same level of care and attention Shawmut brings to their projects—nothing overdone, just thoughtful details and a strong, consistent brand presence.

The Outcome:

The final kit creates a moment that feels like a genuine welcome. It’s the kind of experience that says, “we’re glad you’re here” without having to overstate it. From the packaging to the contents, everything works together to reinforce Shawmut’s values right from the start.

It’s also had an impact beyond day one. New hires often share their unboxing experience, naturally extending the brand and giving others a glimpse into the company’s culture. More importantly, it helps people feel confident in their decision to join—creating an early sense of connection that can make a real difference. Not bad for a welcome kit.
